Which disc
Game files
You need your own copy
We know this is a common question. We cannot provide, link to or help you find game files. The game is copyrighted by its owners. Sharing or linking unauthorized copies is piracy and puts the project at risk of being taken down. GitHub, Discord and this website forbid it. This port can exist because it ships no game data.
Please do not ask for ISOs or game files in Discord or on GitHub, or post links or suggestions about where to look. Requests will be removed. The port needs your own copy.
Which copy works?
The project README specifies this original Xbox 360 disc release only. The disc languages are listed below; the launcher and website support all of them.
- Game
- Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
- Disc
- Xbox 360, USA and Europe (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish)
- Title ID

The 2005 PC version and discs for other platforms do not work. This port runs the Xbox 360 edition’s translated code and needs its matching data; the PC, original Xbox, PlayStation 2 and other editions have different executables and files.
Check your disc image
The launcher checks the title ID before it installs. To check the image yourself, run this in PowerShell (with your own path) and compare the result with the SHA-1 above:
Get-FileHash "C:\Games\King Kong.iso" -Algorithm SHA1
Make an image of your own disc
A compatible PC DVD drive
An ordinary PC DVD drive cannot fully read an Xbox 360 game disc. A compatible drive with suitable disc-reading firmware and a disc-imaging tool can read your own disc into a whole-disc ISO. Check the drive’s exact model and compatibility before buying equipment; renaming a file to .iso does not make a disc image.
A console you own
An Xbox 360 you own with disc-copying homebrew can copy your own disc. Transfer the copy to your PC and use a compatible image-building tool if the console outputs a folder rather than an ISO. The launcher needs an ISO containing the complete game partition and its disc filesystem, not a ZIP, a dashboard install package or a folder of files. Aim for a whole-disc ISO matching the README above. A rebuilt ISO may have a different size or hash and is not a verified match to that reference.
Rules on making personal copies differ between countries. Only copy discs you own; you are responsible for following the rules where you live.
Option: the game installed on your console
If you installed King Kong from your disc to your Xbox 360, the console keeps it as a Games on Demand folder, not a disc image. The free tool God2ISO turns that folder into an .iso the launcher can use, with no changes to your console:
- Copy the installed game folder from your console storage to your PC (the video guide shows how). For King Kong it is
Content\0000000000000000\555307D3\00007000. - Open God2ISO, choose that folder and convert it to an .iso.
- In the launcher, choose Select disc image and pick the new .iso.
Third party software, used at your own risk. The .iso it makes has a different size and SHA-1 from a whole disc image; the launcher checks the game’s title ID, so it still installs. Only convert games you own.
Option: a softmodded console
Peer Pressure is Grimdoomer’s permanent Xbox 360 softmod, released in October 2026, requiring no hardware modification on supported boards: Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper and Trinity; Corona and Winchester are unsupported because they have a hardware fix for the exploit. A softmodded console you own can run disc-copying homebrew to copy your own disc for the image this port needs.
Third-party software, used at your own risk: it modifies your console and can cause data loss or prevent it from booting. Keep a modded console offline because of Xbox Live ban risk. Only copy discs you own; rules differ between countries. This project is not affiliated with Peer Pressure and provides no support for it.
Use the image with the port
Start
Run king_kong.exe. The launcher opens, and the shader pack downloads by itself.
Pick your disc image
Choose Select disc image and pick your King Kong disc image. The launcher checks it, copies the game files (about 6.3 GB) into a
gamefolder next to the exe and takes its artwork from them. The launcher checks title ID
555307D3before extraction. It does not automatically check the image’s SHA-1 or game version. Use the PowerShell command above to compare SHA-1 yourself; a matching title ID alone does not prove the image matches the supported release.Play
Press PLAY. New versions are offered by the launcher when it opens.
After a successful install, the port reads the extracted files in game, so it does not need the ISO mounted or present to play. You may keep it as your personal backup for a reinstall, where permitted; the launcher does not delete it.
Common errors
These are the launcher's messages in English; the launcher shows them translated. Filenames, paths and title IDs vary.
That file is not an Xbox 360 disc image. The disc filesystem or executable could not be read. Check that this is a complete Xbox 360 ISO, not another file type or an unreadable file.
That disc is title {0}, not King Kong ({1}).The image identifies a different game. Use your own supported King Kong disc.
Not an Xbox disc image:The disc filesystem or executable could not be read. Check that this is a complete Xbox 360 ISO, not another file type or an unreadable file.
Cannot writeThe destination file could not be opened for writing. Check folder permissions, free space and whether security software blocks the game folder.
Disc image ended early readingThe image is truncated or unreadable. Check the transfer and make a fresh image from your own disc.
Extraction finished but default.xex is missing. The extracted game executable is absent. Check the image and destination folder, then retry the install.
Quick answers
Can you send me the files?
No. We cannot share game data, privately or publicly. Please use your own disc.
Is a download from somewhere else OK?
Owning a disc does not automatically make an unauthorized download lawful. We cannot approve downloads, give sources or help find them. Make a copy of your own disc where local rules allow it.
Can I use the PC version?
No. It has different code and data. This port needs the supported Xbox 360 release above.
My image fails the check
For a title ID rejection, read the launcher error above. If your manual SHA-1 differs, the image is not byte-for-byte the README reference: it may be a different revision, rebuilt, incomplete or damaged. Check your disc edition, the full file size and the transfer, then copy your own disc again. Do not change files to force a match or request another ISO.
