Features / Workshop
Mods and texture packs, one click away.
The Workshop on the main menu is one page with three rows: texture packs, mods, and our other projects. Download, switch on, import your own or build them, all inside the launcher.
Texture packs
Texture packs.
Every texture pack you have is a card with its picture, name, author and version, and a clear Enabled, Disabled or Not installed badge. Select one for its page: what it changes, how it looks, what it goes well with, its size and what it needs, then Download, Enable or Remove. One texture pack is on at a time, and you can switch at any time, also from the pause menu.
- Offered at setup
HD texture pack
Sharper textures at four times their original size, up to 4096 pixels per side, keeping the game's own look. A 2.6 GB download.
Kong UHD Textures
Every texture at up to four times its resolution, mixing real photographed materials for rock, moss, ground and wood with AI upscaling. Its page tells you, before you download it, that some materials were not made for this game, so the look changes from the original.
Comic Book Texture Pack
A comic book style texture pack for King Kong. Best together with the Cel shading mod: its page has a button that switches it on.
The texture packs are downloads in the Workshop, separate from the port's own download, and no texture pack is needed to play.
Mods
Mods.
Mods sit in your mods folder and are switched on and off in the Workshop, as many as you like at once, in a load order you set with Load earlier and Load later. A mod can be a texture pack, a settings preset or replacement cutscenes, and the game's own files are never changed. How to make one.
- Cel shadingBuilt in: ink outlines and flat colour bands on the 3D scene. Water, smoke, fog, the sky and the HUD are left as they are, and the F8 panel has finer controls.
Your own
Bring your own, or build them.
Import texture pack and Import mod take a ZIP laid out as the modding guide describes. It is checked first: if something is wrong, it says what, and nothing is installed or changed. An imported texture pack keeps its name, picture and credits, and a long import shows how far it is and can be cancelled.
Build your own mods and texture packs opens this site's Mods page, with the guide and our modding tools.
Other projects
Our other projects.
The third row shows TekRantGaming's other projects and games, each with its page from GitHub and a download link, in a different order each time you open the Workshop.
